Graduates' Opportunities

A. Continuation of studies
1. Postgraduate studies in the following indicative subject areas:
Political Science, Political Theory, Economic Theory, European Integration, European Studies, International Finance, Regional Finance, International Relations, International Trade, European Regional Politics, Public finance, Modern Political Thought and Practice, Political Analysis and Behavior, Finance, Strategic Studies, Multinational Corporations, Political Communications, Modern Diplomacy, Financial Development, Foreign Politics and Diplomacy, The Developing World, International Law, European Law.
A two-year postgraduate course in International Studies is offered by the Department of International and European Economic and Political Studies.
2. Academy of Diplomacy 
The graduates of our department can, upon succeeding at admission exams, enroll in the Academy of Diplomacy, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Studies in this school last one year. Academy graduates can find employment in embassies and consulates.
3. National School of Public Management
The graduates of our department can, upon admission exams, enroll in N.S.P.M. Studies in this school last two years. The graduates of the school can specialize in General Management, in Social Management (health services, social policy organizations), in Local Government and in Regional Development and Commerce.
4. School of Teachers for Professional and Technical Education
The graduates of our department can upon admission exams, enroll in this school. Studies in this school last one year. Graduates can teach in the country’s high schools.
Scholarships: The graduates of our department can seek scholarships in the following institutes: Institute of State Scholarships, Institute of Alexandros Onasis, the Bothosaki Institute, the Kokalli Institute, the Basili and Eliza Goulandri Institute, the Greek Shipowners Union (for children of mariners), the British Council, NATO, OAED, European University Institute (Firenze Italia), German Service of Academic Exchange, Australia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Romania, UNESCO, FULBRIGHT.
 
B. Employment
The graduates of our department of either direction can become members of the Greek Chamber of Economics (work permit and protection of profession) and of the Greek Association of Political Science.
The graduates of our department may work in the public or private sector. Particularly:
1.      Ministries: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry for the Interior, Ministry of Public Management and Decentralization, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Public Order, Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, Ministry of Defence e. t. c.
2.     International Organizations: Organization of United Nations (O.U.N), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), World Trade Organization (WTO), North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), e .t. c.
3.     Services of the European Union: European Commission, European Parliament, Council of Ministers, Committee of Regions, Court of Auditors, Court of European Justice, Centre pour le developpement de la formation professionelle (CEDEFOP). This center of the European Union has its head offices in Thessaloniki.
4.      Local Government, namely at the Local Government Organizations (municipalities and village councils), Prefectorial Government, Municipal  Enterprises, Administrative Districts, program “I. Kapodistrias.”
5.      General Accounts Office (budget, result analysis, conclusions etc)
6.      Designing of European Programs and submission of proposals.
7.      Organized Accounts Departments in Enterprises or as free accountants.
8.      Banks, Public Utility Services etc
9.      Mass Media.
10.    Political Analysts, Advisers of Political Communication.
