Brief entry / stay / exit guide for the University of Macedonia, starting from 11-10-2021

To the Students of the University

In the context of the return of Greek Universities to in-person education, according to Greek law (Joint Ministerial Decision 119847/ΓΔ6/23.9.2021,Β΄4406), the Rector's Council of the University of Macedonia, following the relevant decision of its extraordinary meeting No. 9/7.10.2021, announces the following brief guide for the protection of public health from the risk of further spread of Covid-19.

Brief entry / stay / exit guide

for the University of Macedonia, starting from 11-10-2021

ENTRY to the COURTYARD

  • Upon entering the University courtyard, you must present to the competent auditing bodies, the certificate of vaccination or disease or a negative laboratory test, in paper or electronic form, as well as an official certificate of identity (student pass or ID or passport). In case of refusal to demonstrate the above, the audit staff is obliged to block your entry.
  • During your stay in the courtyard of the University, make sure to keep your distance. Avoid overcrowding in groups of more than 2-3 people. In case of overcrowding of more than 3 people, the use of a protective mask is strongly recommended.

ENTRY to the BUILDING

  • Do not enter the building unless you have a specific purpose and destination (e.g. classroom, canteen, WC, gym, etc.). Unnecessary wandering in public areas can aggravate the atmosphere and can potentially become dangerous for everyone, given the fact that the virus can spread quickly.
  • Your entrance to the building will be only from the two entrances on Egnatia Str., i.e. the main entrance and the restaurant.
  • You must measure your temperature in the automatic digital devices located on either side of the main entrance and in the restaurant.
  • Upon entering the building and throughout your stay in it, the protective mask (simple non-medical mask or fabric mask appropriate for Covid-19 protection), is mandatory. Students and full-time or part-time teaching staff participating in educational activities that are not possible with the use of a mask are excluded from the compulsory use of a non-medical mask, only during the period of their active participation in these activities (e.g. sports, use of wind instruments) Excluded from the compulsory use of a non-medical mask are also persons for whom the use of a mask is not indicated for medical reasons, which are proven by the appropriate documents (e.g. due to respiratory problems).

STAY in the BUILDING

  • After completing the purpose for which you entered (e.g. end of class, gap between classes), it is recommended to go to the courtyard and only return to the building if there is a reason and only the specified time of class or activity.
  • The use of elevators is prohibited.
  • It is strongly recommended to avoid overcrowding in all public areas: foyers, stairs, outside classrooms, WC, etc.
  • When entering the classroom, write down the number of the seat (located on the back of the seat or the back of the reclining seat in the lecture theater), so that in case of disease it will be easy to trace the persons infected. For the same reason, it is recommended that you stay in the same numbered position without changing it throughout the course. You must also place the certificate of vaccination or disease or the negative laboratory test on your desk, in a visible place, during your stay in lecture theaters, classrooms, or laboratories. Standing students are NOT allowed inside the classrooms / amphitheaters / laboratories.
  • It is recommended to use antiseptic from the devices that have been installed in all the appropriate and visible places inside the building, and in particular when you enter from the main entrance, as well as when you enter and leave the classrooms.
  • Consumption of food inside the student restaurant is allowed only to those who have been vaccinated or ill in the last six months. For those entitled to food who do not have a certificate of vaccination or disease, or who do not have a negative laboratory test, the food is received in a package and only from the entrance of the restaurant and can be consumed outside the checkpoints located at the entrances of the University.
  • Likewise, for the canteen area, the table seats that are placed inside can only be used by those who have been fully vaccinated or ill in the last six months. Otherwise, for those who have a negative laboratory test, food or drinks will be received in a package but consumed outside the University.

EXIT from the BUILDING

  • You can only exit the building from the door on Lambraki Str. as well as from the side exit of the canteen.

IN CASE you are diagnosed as POSITIVE

  • If you show symptoms of respiratory infection (cough, fever, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, etc.) during your time in class/laboratory/reading room/ library, etc., you should inform the instructor immediately. If symptoms occur outside of University, you should immediately notify the responsible person for Covid-19 designated at every academic department. The names and contact details of the persons responsible for Covid-19 are posted on the main website of the University.
  • Indicate which course(s) you attended on the same day or the day before your illness, as well as the number of classroom(s) and seat(s), to enable the tracking of people who came in contact with you and to activate the Covid-19 case management procedure, according to the current protocol.

The Rector's Office and the staff of the University make every effort and activate every possible means for the protection of the health of those involved in the educational process and the safe reopening of the University. Please, individually, assist in this effort by implementing the necessary measures, which will ensure the continuation of in-person teaching and the return to the normalcy of academic life.
