Program Duration, Structure and Content
- The Program’s duration is four (4) academic semesters. The first two semesters which have a duration of thirteen (13) full teaching weeks relate to the teaching and examination of courses, while the Master’s Thesis is prepared during the last two semesters. The minimum teaching hours are set to 39 per course including the examination.
- For the replacement of lectures, 2 weeks of replacement lessons are provided before the beginning of the examination period.
- In order to obtain the MSc Degree, postgraduate students should attend and be successfully examined in the 8 compulsory courses of the MSc program and prepare a Master’s Thesis. Courses are attended and examined during the 1st and 2nd semester. Upon completion of the re-sit examination period of September, students can undertake the preparation of their thesis as defined in article 5.7, under condition that their remaining courses are up to 2; nevertheless, the thesis can only be assessed after successful completion of all courses. Thesis examination takes place immediately after courses examination periods and not before the first examination period of the 4th semester.
- The courses of the MSc program are equivalent to 120 ECTS, namely 30 ECTS per semester, i.e. 7,5 ECTS per course and 60 ECTS for Master’s Thesis.
According to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), credit hours are as follows:

- The maximum duration for the award of the MSc Degree is set to six (6) academic semesters. Students may apply for an extension of studies of a maximum of two (2) semesters . If extension approval is granted by the Department’s Assembly, the student’s registration in the MSc program is renewed.
- Upon decision of the Department’s Assembly after the relevant student’s request, a suspension of studies can be granted for a maximum of two (2) teaching semesters and only in cases where there are substantial grounds (e.g. health, military service, family-related grounds). In the relevant application, students must note the exact semesters for which they request a suspension of studies and the reasons for suspension which shall be documented with the corresponding supporting documents.
The duration of studies suspension will not be taken into account for the total duration of studies in the MSc program.
