Academic Quality Policy
The University of Macedonia takes all necessary measures to ensure the quality of its academic and research work. The University’s mission is to “contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence”. This reflects one of the fundamental values of the University, which is to provide a high quality of service to all its fields of specialization. The University's quality assurance procedures provide a framework within which departments and units can assess and improve their teaching activities in order to ensure that they attain this pursuit of excellence.
In accordance with legislation, quality assurance policies and procedures in all areas of the University operations are supervised and coordinated by the independent Quality Assurance Authority. The Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Macedonia is responsible for the management of Quality. The latter includes actions and processes related to education with an emphasis on teaching and learning, research and innovation but also on management. Additionally, the objective of the Internal Quality Assurance Unit of the Department of Business Administration is to continuously improve all operations of the Department and to involve all members of the Department towards this goal. In particular, the Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia is based on the philosophy of quality that could be described as a commitment to the fundamental values of: (a) respect for Excellence and Meritocracy; (b) technical and scientific excellence, innovation and commitment to the advancement of science and transmission of knowledge; (c) optimal satisfaction of the needs of its students, and in a broader context, the needs of all those who use its services and / or anyone else directly or indirectly affected by the Department’s operation (all parties concerned); (d) social responsibility in relation to its work and results; and (e) commitment to the advancement of science and transmission of knowledge.
The practical implementation of these values is conducted through a personalized approach, which characterizes both the internal structure and organization of the Department and the management and control of its entire operation. The Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia is committed to its students and the administrative, teaching, research and university staff, the associates, the society and all parties concerned to implement and continuously improve its efficiency and to make available all the technical and human resources required for it. The purpose is the overall satisfaction of all people concerned, which is achieved through effective cooperation in line with: (a) the timely action for addressing issues and continuously evaluating their resolution; (b) the continuous investigation, recording, analysis and review of the needs of all people concerned, with a view to the optimal management of those needs (c) the continuous monitoring of the agreed requirements of the parties involved throughout the period of cooperation, (d) the optimal use of resources to ensure economic sustainability, (e) the encouragement of the teaching and administrative staff towards participation in education and training actions or programs (e.g. Erasmus programs) and (e) the development of a department which serves as a model for teaching and research.
