Greetings from the Department Head

 Dear visitors,

I would like to welcome you to the website of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia, one of the oldest and largest in number of active students Departments of our University. Browsing through our website, you will find useful information about the staff, our educational and research activities, our Study Program, interconnections of the Department of Business Administration with business bodies of the market, and the opportunities offered to all undergraduate and postgraduates students as well as PhD candidates towards an enrichment of their knowledge, skills and scientific background.

The Department of Business Administration has the mission to develop qualified executives for the recruitment of businesses and organizations of any type and size operating in the private or public sector within the Greek or international social and financial system. All members of Teaching and Research Staff contribute to a great extend towards the achievement of the Department’s mission. The professors of the Department are distinguished for their excellent studies and high level of theoretical knowledge and experience as well as for their internationally recognized research work which is posted on the Department’s website and is updated twice a year. Members of Teaching and Research Staff provide students with the opportunity to acquire high quality knowledge and skills in management, marketing, accounting, financial and information systems used by businesses; that is knowledge that ensures their successful careers in the future as executives and top executives in the private and public sector. Many of the graduates of the Department of Business Administration have completed their postgraduate studies in prestigious European and American Universities and today they are employed by thousands of businesses and organizations within Greece and the EU or internationally. Additionally, a large number of the Department’s graduates have successfully started their own businesses or they have undertaken the management of their family’s businesses. Finally, many graduates of the Department of Business Administration have completed their PhD studies in Greek, European and American Universities and today they work as professors and researchers in Greek or foreign universities and research organizations.

The Study Program of the Department of Business Administration is modern and comparable to European and American university programs, due to the fact that it was designed in accordance with the standards of those study programs a few years ago. The Department’s policy is to update its study program on a regular basis in accordance with scientific developments of the field in order to meet the needs of businesses and organizations- potential employers of our graduates- for new scientific knowledge and skills. In addition, the Department of Business Administration gives students the opportunity to study for a whole academic semester at EU universities, within the framework of the European Erasmus + student exchange program which subsidizes the cost of living for students in these countries. Furthermore, students of the Department of Business Administration have the opportunity of a paid employment in businesses and organizations for 3 or 6 months as part of our University student internship program. The internship program gives our students the opportunity to get in touch with real working conditions in businesses and organizations.

To conclude, I would like to highlight the commitment of teaching, research and administrative staff of the Department of Business Administration towards an ongoing effort for the improvement of attendance conditions and academic environment of our Department.
