Creators' rights, because of human thought, are intangible assets that can be turned into valuable financial capital. They are divided into industrial property rights and intellectual property rights. Intellectual property includes works of speech, art, cultural works, related rights, as well as software. Industrial property includes inventions, which are patents (patents), utility model certificates, trademarks, designations of origin, geographical indications, plant varieties and industrial designs, which belong to industrial property but are not included in the inventions. The Technology Transfer and Innovation Unit of the University of Macedonia is the structure that supports the institution and its researchers in the utilization of the generated knowledge and their research results and is the communication channel between the institution and the "market".
