Course Outlines

Upon completion of the course, it is expected that students, combining theory and practical applications, will know what job CFOs do and why, but also how they should do it, in order to magnify the value of their business. The theory of Financial Management is presented through a number of examples and exercises, as well as a significant number of case studies.


Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the basic methods of determining the present and future value of money.
  • Apply the basic methods of analyzing investment decisions.
  • Analyze the concepts of risk and return as well as portfolio theory.
  • Apply methods of analyzing financial statements and forecasting financing needs.
  • Understand the basic concepts of managing a company's assets.

The course aims to develop the following general skills:

Course Outlines

The main aim of the course is to provide essential insights into contemporary Human Resource Management (HRM) methods and techniques for all graduate students to be able to analyze and manage personnel issues in  organizations. More specifically,  completing this course, students are expected to enhance :

  • Specialized knowledge in HRM based on Management studies and more specifically in HRM that will support students’ professional potential and future career paths
  • Knowledge in HRM and other related fields, such as Industrial Psychology and Sociology, in order to be able to follow and apply all the new HRM practices in their professional life.

Upon the completion of the course the post graduate student will be able to:

  • Use management (managerial) accounting as a decision-making tool
  • Classify management accounting concepts within a specific time period
  • Calculate the “Total manufacturing cost”, the “Cost of goods manufactured” and the “Cost of goods sold” for a product of a company
  • Apply the cost redistribution methods
  • Develop variable costing analysis
  • Calculate the breakeven point
  • Develop budgeting issues
  • Interpret direct materials and direct labor variances
  • Address issues related to activity-based costing
  • Evaluate decisions through managerial accounting

Course Outlines

The course specializes in the development of knowledge and management skills of an entity as a whole (i.e. it specializes in the management of the total organization), and in the formulation and implementation of business, competitive and operational strategies. In particular, the course consists of the following sub-sections:
i) Strategic Analysis of the entity's environment, industry, competition, stakeholders, pressure groups and capabilities in a context of increased complexity, accelerated change and globalization.
ii) Strategic Decisions which, on the one hand, will be based on the company's ability to identify the opportunities and risks in any changes in the business environment and on the other hand to develop strategies to deal with/exploit these changes.
iii) Strategic Actions for the implementation of the strategic choices given the structures, systems, culture and management model of the entity.
In particular, the purpose of the course is to give students the opportunity to "unify - synthesize" all the knowledge they have already acquired from all the courses of a business organization and management program, in order to solve complex operational problems of an Entity.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have developed the following skills:
1. Utilization of the Strategic Planning Model.
2. Utilization of the "internal environment analysis tools" of an Entity a Public and   
    Evaluation of the results.
3. Utilization of the "external environment analysis tools" of an Entity a Public and
    Evaluation of the results.
4. Formation of "Objective Goals" for an Entity.
5. Using Service-Product Portfolio Theory Models to identify the most appropriate   
    "business, competitive and operational strategies" (proposals for exploiting
     opportunities and dealing with risks).
6. Development and Implementation of a Strategic Plan.

At the end of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
1. Understand the usefulness of Strategic Analysis and by extension the necessity of
    Strategic Planning for every Entity.
2. Distinguish the theoretically available Alternative Strategic Options.
3. Analyze the internal environment of an Entity in order to identify its strengths and   
    Weaknesses.
4. Investigate the external environment of an Entity in order to identify the risks,  
    Opportunities, strategic gaps and strategic challenges.
5. Assess the mix of "Strengths - Weaknesses" and "Opportunities - Threats" of an
    Entity.
6. Draft a complete Strategic Plan for an.
7. Implement a Strategic Plan for an Entity and evaluate its effectiveness.
