Οι επιχειρήσεις λαμβάνουν χρηματοδοτικές αποφάσεις στα πλαίσια του επιχειρησιακού και χρηματοοικονομικού προγραμματισμού τους. Οι αποφάσεις αυτές αποτελούν ιδιαίτερα κρίσιμο παράγοντα για την βιωσιμότητα και την ανάπτυξή τους. Αντικείμενο του μαθήματος είναι η μελέτη των διαθέσιμων πηγών άντλησης κεφαλαίων και του πλαισίου λήψης των χρηματοδοτικών αποφάσεων. Αναφέρεται η έννοια του χρηματοοικονομικού προγραμματισμού μιας επιχείρησης και γίνεται διάκριση μεταξύ «εσωτερικής» και «εξωτερικής» χρηματοδότησης. Παρουσιάζονται οι σύγχρονες μορφές χρηματοδότησης στις οποίες συμπεριλαμβάνονται: η χρηματοδοτική μίσθωση (leasing), η πρακτόρευση απαιτήσεων (factoring), η εμπορία απαιτήσεων (forfaiting), τα κεφάλαια επιχειρηματικών συμμετοχών (venture capital), μία σειρά από σύγχρονα τραπεζικά προϊόντα και τα ομολογιακά δάνεια. Περιγράφονται διεξοδικά τα ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά καθώς και οι διαδικασίες εφαρμογής των παραπάνω μεθόδων χρηματοδότησης.

Οι αποφάσεις που αφορούν τα οικονομικά μιας επιχείρησης αποτελούν αντικείμενο της χρηματοοικονομικής διοίκησης. Το μάθημα αποτελεί μια εισαγωγή στις έννοιες και στις μεθόδους που τα στελέχη των επιχειρήσεων χρησιμοποιούν για την ορθολογική λήψη επενδυτικών και χρηματοδοτικών αποφάσεων, με απώτερο σκοπό τη μεγιστοποίηση της αξίας της επιχείρησης. Στο πλαίσιο του μαθήματος οι φοιτητές θα γνωρίσουν ποιες είναι οι αποφάσεις που λαμβάνονται από τους οικονομικούς διευθυντές, καθώς και τα διαθέσιμα χρηματοοικονομικά εργαλεία που συνδράμουν στη βέλτιστη λειτουργία της επιχείρησης. Θα γίνει μια σύντομη παρουσίαση των διάφορων μορφών επιχειρηματικών οργανώσεων και των επίκαιρων ζητημάτων που αντιμετωπίζουν οι επιχειρήσεις και ειδικότερα η εταιρική διακυβέρνηση, το ζήτημα εντολέα-εντολοδόχου και η εταιρική κοινωνική ευθύνη. Βασικός πυλώνας του μαθήματος αποτελεί η ανάπτυξη της έννοιας της χρονικής αξίας του χρήματος βάσει της οποίας γίνεται η αποτίμηση των χρηματοοικονομικών προϊόντων, όπως μετοχές και ομόλογα. Επιπλέον, εκτός από τον προσδιορισμό της αξίας των εν λόγω χρεογράφων θα γίνει μία λεπτομερής περιγραφή των βασικών χαρακτηριστικών και γνωρισμάτων τους, όπως επίσης και των κατηγοριοποιήσεών τους.

Στην εποχή της παγκοσμιοποίησης, οι πολυεθνικές επιχειρήσεις συνεχίζουν να επεκτείνουν τις δραστηριότητές τους παγκοσμίως. Το μάθημα έχει σχεδιαστεί για να αναλύει όχι μόνο τα δυνητικά πλεονεκτήματα που συνδέονται με τις στρατηγικές διεθνοποίησης, αλλά παράλληλα παρουσιάζει τους διάφορους επενδυτικούς κινδύνους που επηρεάζουν τη διαδικασία λήψης αποφάσεων των πολυεθνικών επιχειρήσεων. Οι φοιτητές θα διδαχθούν πώς να αναγνωρίζουν και να διαχειρίζονται διαφορετικές πηγές κινδύνου, όπως ο κίνδυνος ρευστότητας, ο συναλλαγματικός κίνδυνος, ο κίνδυνος χώρας και ο οικονομικός κίνδυνος. Επιπλέον, οι πολυεθνικές επιχειρήσεις πρέπει να διαχειρίζονται αποτελεσματικά τις ταμειακές ροές τους και τον προϋπολογισμό κεφαλαίων στις ξένες αγορές χρήματος και κεφαλαίου. Οι φοιτητές θα είναι σε θέση να κατανοήσουν τον τρόπο με τον οποίο η ανάπτυξη των παγκόσμιων χρηματοπιστωτικών αγορών επηρεάζει τη χρηματοδότηση των πολυεθνικών επιχειρήσεων. Επιπλέον, θα γνωρίσουν τις πρακτικές διαδικασίες και τα μέσα χρηματοδότησης του διεθνούς εμπορίου. Τέλος, οι φοιτητές θα μπορούν να αναλύουν τις συναλλαγματικές ισοτιμίες και να αναγνωρίσουν τους παράγοντες που καθορίζουν τη μεταβλητότητά τους.

Στο σύγχρονο περιβάλλον οι επενδυτές έχουν τη δυνατότητα να επιλέξουν διάφορα επενδυτικά προϊόντα και υπηρεσίες. Η παγκοσμιοποίηση και η πληροφορική τεχνολογία επιτρέπει την επένδυση σε εξειδικευμένα προϊόντα και με ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά, με βάση τις ανάγκες και επιθυμίες του κάθε επενδυτή. Ωστόσο, η ποικιλομορφία των επενδυτικών επιλογών συνεπάγεται κινδύνους, τους οποίους οι επενδυτές θα πρέπει να αναγνωρίζουν και στη συνέχεια να αντιμετωπίζουν αποτελεσματικά. Το μάθημα αποτελεί μια εισαγωγή στις βασικές θεωρητικές έννοιες και προσεγγίσεις αξιολόγησης των εναλλακτικών επενδυτικών επιλογών, με απώτερο σκοπό την ενδυνάμωση της διαδικασίας λήψης επενδυτικών αποφάσεων στο σύγχρονο και παγκοσμιοποιημένο οικονομικό περιβάλλον. Πρωταρχικός σκοπός του μαθήματος είναι η ανάπτυξη βασικών θεμάτων της χρηματοοικονομικής επιστήμης, όπως η θεωρία χαρτοφυλακίου, η διαφοροποίηση ο κίνδυνος, η απόδοση, η τιμολόγηση περιουσιακών στοιχείων και η αποτελεσματικότητα της αγοράς. Η ανάλυση των εν λόγω θεμάτων θα γίνει τόσο σε θεωρητικό όσο και πρακτικό επίπεδο, με την επίλυση ασκήσεων και τη χρησιμοποίηση εξισώσεων στο Excel. Επιπλέον, γίνονται επενδυτικές ασκήσεις προσομοίωσης με τη χρήση δεδομένων σε πραγματικό χρόνο και την αξιοποίηση λογαριασμών επίδειξης σε ηλεκτρονικές πλατφόρμες συναλλαγών.
