Study visit ANSWER Project

As part of the project entitled «Advance iNclusion for Students With disabilities on higher
Education in Rwanda», 101083032 — ANSWER — ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE Erasmus+
programme» with the acronym ANSWER, coordinated by University of Alicante and with
partner the University of Macedonia, a Study Visit of 19 participants from Rwanda and Spain
took place on 6 th and 7 th July in the conference hall of the University of Macedonia
Scientifical responsible for the project is Mrs. Kartasidou Lefkothea, Professor of Special
Education at the Department of Educational and Social Policy and member of the Laboratory
of Applications of Educational and Social Inclusion of People with Learning and Adaptation
Difficulties (LAESI).
The wider objective of the ANSWER project is to improve accessibility, ensure learning
conditions and foster policy change towards inclusion for students with disabilities in higher
education as well as to strengthen the transition to the labor market in Rwanda via modern
inclusion practices, training, and networking.
The participants visited the Library of the University of Macedonia and the Accessibility Unit
where they were informed about the services provided and the services of the Counseling
and Support Center were also presented.
The visit focused on issues related to the management procedures during the admission of
students to higher education, accessibility and counseling services for disabled students,
orientation and mobility of the blind and good practices for supporting wheelchair users.
The participants had the opportunity to discuss and work on issues of accessibility in
education, art, health, tourism and in general in life with the ultimate goal to realize the
factors that contribute to a better quality of life.
