Department of Applied Informatics


 

The Department of Applied Informatics is one of the departments created pursuant to Presidential Decree no. 147 (Greek Government Gazette A’ 56 / 10.4.1990), which also provided for the renaming of the University of Macedonia. Students were first admitted in the academic year 1991-1992. In 2013-2014, the Department merged with the Department of Technology Management (located in Naoussa) and the two formed the School of Information Sciences. The Department of Applied Informatics from the academic year 2019-2020 offers 2 introductory specializations:

A) Computer Science and Technology

B) Information Systems


Studies in the Department of Applied Informatics

The aim of the Department is:

  • To promote and transmit knowledge through teaching and research in the field of Computer Science with particular emphasis on the development of systems for their application in Economics, Finance, Management and other social sciences and
  • To train high-level executives for the needs of the public and private sector.
