Quality Assurance Policy


The Department of Accounting and Finance in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the University and the relevant services of the Institution, has harmonized the Quality Policy of the BSc in Accounting and Finance with the Quality Assurance Policy of the University of Macedonia.

The Quality Assurance Policy of the Department of Accounting and Finance continuously adapts to new challenges, requirements and conditions. The policy is reconsidered dynamically by taking into account the views of Faculty members, support and administration staff, as well as students.

The Quality Assurance Policy of BSc in Accounting and Finance is drawn by considering the academic content and the scientific orientation of the BSc Curriculum, while maintaining high quality standards in teaching, research and administration, in accordance with international academic standards and best practices of the European Higher Education Area. Moreover, compliance with the principles of the Quality Assurance Authority and the current legislation.

The direction of the Quality Assurance Policy the Department focuses on the promotion of the aim and the objective of the BSs as well as in achieving the strategic goals set, through well-defined procedures and actions aiming at the continuous development and improvement. A key component of the Department's Programme of Studies is the BSc which reflects and highlights the basic scientific and academic identity of the Department.

The Assembly of the Department is responsible for the approval of the Quality Assurance Policy after the relevant recommendations are officially submitted by the responsible committee (OMEA, etc.). In particular, the Quality Assurance Policy of the BSc in Accounting and Finance has a number of actions and procedures that ensure (and keep record) of the following:
(a) the appropriateness of the structure and organization of the curriculum,
(b) the annual review and internal inspection of the BSc quality assurance system,
(c) the pursuit and achievement of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and Hellenic Qualification Framework for Higher Education,
(d) ways of linking teaching with research;
(e) the level of demand for graduates' qualifications in the industry;
(f) promoting the quality and effectiveness of the research produced by the members of the Department,
(g) promoting the quality and effectiveness of teaching,
(h) the quality of supporting services, such as administrative services, libraries and student care services;
(i) to conduct an annual review of the quality assurance policy through the liaison of the Department’s Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the Institution.

The quality assurance procedures, listed in the Quality Manual of the Institution, are adopted by the Department of Accounting and Finance with the required fine-tuning. All quality assurance procedures of the Department of Accounting and Finance are subject to inspection, review and revision, which are carried out on an annual basis by the OMEA in collaboration with the Institution’s MODIP.
